Milkweed Symmetry

Scientists and mathematicians look for patterns in nature. One example of a pattern is symmetry.

Reflectional Symmetry is when one side of something is a mirror image of the other side. This is also called line symmetry or mirror symmetry.

Look at the milkweed plant on the right.

Notice that the leaf labeled A looks exactly like the leaf labeled B.

B is a mirror image of A.
