Sargent Cherry- Prunus sargentii

An imported, ornamental landscape tree that has escaped into the wild. Birds eat the small red to dark purple fruits. Arbor Day Foundation

For landscaping purposes it has a pretty spring bloom, makes a cool shade. grows only 30 ft high. The reddish shiny bark makes for winter interest.

Commonly recognized by the bark that has horizontal lines.
