3. Go View ... Show Rulers.

AppleWorks 6 - Format .. Rulers.. Show Rulers.

4. Use the line tool line drawing tool button to draw a line from top to bottom at the 4" mark on the Horizontal ruler.

5. Draw a line across the page at the 5.25" mark on the vertical ruler. The sole purpose of these lines is to give you a guide to the edges of your quadrants. We will remove them when we are done.

6. Select a picture from your clip art collection. Go File ... Insert. Or use Copy ... Paste. Use the Arrow tool to drag the picture to the upper left area as shown. You will notice that the picture needs to be reoriented and probably resized to fit the area.

Getting a picture

AppleWorks 4 & 5 users - You can use an image from the Libraries for your card. Go File ... Library and select from the many options.

AppleWorks 6 users - you can access thousands of free images for use if you have internet access.

1. Go File ... Show Clippings. The tabs at the bottom of the dialog box give you access to images already in your computer.

2. Search the internet resources at Apple for the perfect image by entering a keyword like Christmas. (Be sure the Search Web Contents box is clicked.)

Access the internet by using the Remote Access Status control panel located in the Apple Menu ... Control Panels folder. (Click the Connect button.)

3. Once you see the Connect at: info.... Click the Search button.

4. A Web Progress dialog box will open. Thumbnail images matching to your keyword will begin to appear in the Clippings box. You may get hundreds or only a few images.

5. Drag the image you want for your card from the Clippings window to the Card's window. It will copy from apple's resources to your computer. You can watch the progress in the dialog box.

6. Disconnect your internet access using the Remote Access Status control panel. Click disconnect.

Remember to save (command key symbol... s) your card as you make changes!
