To Pogue or not to Pogue
There is no question, POGUE!

You may think there is nothing funny or even vaguely interesting about back up storage. I can only conclude you have not been to the New York Times web site to watch a Pogue. What, you may ask, is a Pogue? It is a very funny video about a tech product and/or problem.

When I bought my first Mac I had the great, good fortune of also buying a fantastic book. (Yes, this was back in the dark ages before wifi, online videos, ebooks or even cds.) Anyway, I went to the bookstore in search of info on how to use my new Mac LC. I saw these eye blasting, yellow books written for dummies. Comfortable that I had found a tome at my level, I bought it. Mac for Dummies by David Pogue revolutionized my computing. Not only did I learn incredibly helpful, geeky stuff, I also learned to laugh at my techie foibles. In fact, I believe he should be named the Guardian Angel of new Mac users.

The New York Times had the good sense to hire David to write columns. But the icing on the cake is that he also does a regular video. I was just reduced to tears laughing at the video on Back Up Storage. No, I am not a pathetic weirdo!

Don’t believe me?
Go to http://video.on.nytimes.com/

If it does not just start right up:

In the Channels column on the left - click Technology
Click on David Pogue. (Not actually on him - click on the words. Geez!)
Click on “Backing up Your Files” in the pictures/titles on the mid screen.

Do not do this at work – your laughing will attract your boss’ attention.
Do not do it when you must leave for an appointment – you’ll be late.
Do not do this while using sharp objects or while standing on the top step of a ladder.

Do it soon. Watch any of the videos. I enjoyed the iPhone ones, and Mission Implausible, and 60 Products, and Cell Phones for kids, as well as Can Humor and Gadgets mix?. Be sure to view the Windows Vista review, which by the way is also a review of Mac OSX.

Sorry it has been so long in coming but, thanks David!
